Normandy Holiday Cottages Latest Information

Unfortunately we are not able to take any bookings until we know it is safe to travel again. At the moment it is difficult to see when the lockdowns in France and England will be relaxed and society begins to return to normal.
We are hopeful that travel restrictions will be lifted towards the end of July but this depends upon a great deal of different factors, nearly all of which are out of our control.
For anybody that has a holiday booked with us later in the year we are deferring any decisions until the position becomes clear.
Just a quick note on Brittany Ferries. In our experience you will receive a full refund in the form of a voucher as long as it is Brittany Ferries that makes the cancellation. If you make the cancellation yourself Brittany Ferries will deduct your deposit and send you a voucher for the balance. Another option is that you can change the date of travel to later in the year or to next year. If you were to choose the latter option then we would be happy to mirror those changes.
Thankfully we have a presence at La Forge so the garden and the maintenance will still be regularly attended.
Please stay safe and as risk free as possible. And hopefully we'll see you all again once all this is over.
BONNE CHANCE A TOUT LE MONDE!
(Good luck everybody!)

The United Kingdom has left the European Union on 31st January 2020 but a transitional period is in place until 31st December 2020. This means that there will be no changes to your travel arrangements until after the transitional period has been completed.
You will not notice any differences when entering or leaving France.
Brittany Ferries has put together a useful list of Q&A's to reassure you.

We've taken a second booking for August 2020!
By booking through Holiday France Direct you can claim a 20% discount off your Brittany Ferry crossing. There is the option to set sail on the fastcat Normandie Express, which takes as little as three hours from Portsmouth to Cherbourg, or perhaps you would prefer to cruise across by day (or night) taking in the opportunity to dine in style. There are also other shops on board selling luxury goods such as perfume, chocolates and wines and spirits.
If you would like to know more then please visit our website or Holidays France Direct for great holiday deals.

Merci beaucoup to everybody who stayed at La Forge during 2019.
We have had a super year welcoming both new and returning holiday makers from the UK, Europe and even as far afield as the United States of America. It's been a pleasure seeing La Forge in full swing throughout the summer months. We have been reviewed and rated at 9.4/10!
Next year promises to be busy again. We already have a booking for August and expect more in the coming months. There is still plenty of availability including the D-Day commemorations week at the beginning of June.
Don't forget that you can book through Holiday France Direct on the following link:
It just remains for us to wish you BONNE ANNEE!

Well this is it, La Forge IV is approaching like a freight train, and we are just about ready to roll...
You'll see that the t-shirts are ordered, the beer is on it's way (thanks to the Bad Manners Brewery), the band is ready and Lards's Disco is buzzing.
So to make sense of all this we've put together an itinerary which you can follow for the weekend's entertainment:
Friday 12th July
We'll be meeting you at the ferryport in Cherbourg at 13.00 French time ready to transport you to La Haye du Puits. There you will be able to pick up some additional items (probably not amaretto!) from the supermarche or local shops; and then partake in a relaxing afternoon experiencing French cafe culture. We'll do a quick reconnaissance (why can't the French come up with words like that?) on what's on/open when we arrive on Wednesday.
Then it's onto La Forge for a relaxing evening of cheese, wine, and UNCLE ERIC'S quiz. We have some returning former winners. We hope to have put up (avoiding that word) the tents so hopefully it's just a case of hitting the ground running.
Saturday 13th July
A lazy continental breakfast followed by some energetic kayaking at Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte. Some of us will be remaining at La Forge (and we may even visit Gorges for a few beers). We'll sort out the respective groups on the day.
The evening is the BBQ and Fancy Dress party (theme British pub names), the band and the disco courtesy of Lards! We'll have the full band set up so if anyone fancies doing a few numbers then feel free!
Sunday 14th July is Bastille Day so after another breakfast it's open plan. There are any number of options available as long as we catch that ferry at 17.00! Beach anyone?
Hopefully we'll have enough beer, wine and cider to keep the show on the road, but if you need spirits to get you into the spirit we'll be stopping so you can get supplies.
